What Is Clinical Supervision?

Clinical Supervision is a formal and contractual agreement between two or more professionals or trainees where one is in the role of supervisor (overseeing and giving guidance and support) to the other/s who are in the role of supervisee (who brings their clinical practice, including how they are working with clients or patients, including any safeguarding concerns and even supervisee’s personal issues to explore and understand.)

The supervisor helps the supervisee/s to explore, reflect, understand, assess and develop good and ethical practices.

Clinical Supervision provides both a robust theoretical and practical space in order to build competency and resourcefulness of its supervisees to meet the needs of an ever-changing world.

The Supervisee will also be supported to learn and unlearn, relate, create, collaborate and develop sustaining resilience.

Working with your Clinical Supervisor.

You will be encouraged to work creatively and exploratively using discussion and sometimes dramatic techniques, art; music; poetry; mindfulness and relaxation amongst other processes.

You may be at times simply talking or using any of the above-mentioned strategies.

You will be fully supported and be given plenty of space for self-reflection, to raise questions, share your own ideas and thoughts, review your own styles of therapy or counselling as well as analyse any safeguarding concerns.

There will be plenty of time to relax and have fun too.

Here at My Clinical Supervisor, you will always be treated with respect and care.
